Moroccan envoy says prospects present for co-op with SOCAR

There are broad prospects for cooperation with the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR on the project to construct a gas pipeline from Nigeria to Morocco, said Mohamed Adil Ambarch, Moroccan ambassador to Azerbaijan.
He was addressing a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Natig Aliyev Feb. 8.
Natig Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan's readiness to share experience with Morocco by taking part in the development of the country’s energy sector, according to Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry.
The envoy, in turn, noted that the development of energy cooperation with Azerbaijan is one of Morocco’s main objectives.
“There are broad opportunities for cooperation with SOCAR on a gas pipeline project between Nigeria and Morocco,” he added.
The Azerbaijani minister, for his part, said it is important to prepare and adopt a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation between the two countries and noted the significance of holding joint events.

On its eastern side lies the Caspian Sea, whilst the Russian Federation borders it on the north.Azerbaijan is formed of 65 regions and 69 cities of which Baku is the capital. While Azerbaijani is the official language, due to Russia's rule for so many years, Russian and Turkish languages are also widely spoken. In some regions, people also converse in English, German and Arabic.


Azerbaijan's economy mainly depends on oil and natural gas production. Other industries that contribute to its economy include cotton and agricultural products.
Pancakes, soups and bread form a major part of the daily cuisine of the Azerbaijani's. Meat and poultry features prominently in all the food preparations such as kebabs, minced meat, etc. Among the fruits grown locally - apples, cherries, grapes, melons, raspberries, plums and peaches are prominent. Sweet black tea or Azerbaijani sherbet is a very popular drink among the locals too.
